Why is my current electricity supplier objecting to our changing suppliers?

At the present moment I am trying to change suppliers from npower to EDF, and twice they have refused. I have tried telephoning them and they give no satisfactory reason. What is my concourse for doing next as I am getting very frustrated.

Firstly, in my experience I have found npower to be a right ‘bag of spanners’ and their customer service sucks. Bad enough you have to waste your time queuing for their call centre (at least that is free) but then the person you speak to is invariably an idiot.
npower can stop you from moving if there is a considerable balance on your account. Likewise, if you have recently changed to them and are under a fixed term contract, there may be a problem with moving.
You say that npower haven’t provided you with a satsifactory explanation – but what is the explanation they have given?
Try http://redo.me.uk/greener-energy starting the process off again online. You may find a cheaper supplier than EDF (because they are not always the cheapest!!) and might have better luck.
Failing this, contact the Office of the Energy Ombudsman, but be aware that they might take a few weeks to deal with your case.
Try doing it online through the link below and let the companies fight it out! The only problem I can think of is if you have been with npower for less that a year in which case you may find you have signed something to agree to stay with them for that period; other than if you are contractually obliged they cannot stop you. Any problems contact the ombudsman (link also below). Good luck
im switching the other way as edf are more expensive
